Rudolf the reindeer food recipe!

Special Rudolf the Raindeer Food Well its the 16th of December and time for another family tradition, making the food for rudolf!

We always used to buy this very special delicacy from Jack’s primary school Christmas fair but to be honest its much more fun to make than buy. And as there is no actual cooking involved its a great one for even the tiniest hands. Even milly helped this year, and  though at one point she tried to shove giant fist full’s  into her mouth, it was on the whole a none dangerous family fun fun event!

Basically you just get a giant bowl and have lots of fun sprinkling and stiring the ingredients up! I would recomend a giant plastic sheet  ( I use a old party table cloth) on the floor for easy clean up but apart from that its pips!

So here you go,

Ickle Reindeer food !!

Ingredients:

A bag of desiccated  coconut ( For snow effect),

A good amount of glitter in a shaker,

A handful of star anise,

A handful of cinnamon sticks,

3 teaspoons approx, of mixed spice (this makes the mixture turn a bit muddy coloured but makes it smell divine, so it’s up to you whether you prefer it to look pretty or smell prettier! )

Basically all you do is get a nice big bowl … several wooden spoons and sprinkle shake ‘n’ stir all the ingredient together, then get some baking parchment cut into rough squares. Place about a tablespoons into each square scrunch up until you get like a little bomb shape and wrap the top with raffia, ribbon or just an elastic band.

You can customise the size of the parcels to whatever you want and they make such cute gifts for school mates or family friends with kids.

Then all you do on Christmas eve is sprinkle Rudolf’s  food in a line from your drive to your door and  Santa and the reindeer are sure to find it!

PS: It would be fab if you decide to make it to tell me  how it goes, and whether you have any cool variations!

Ellie wants to add cherries next year :)
