School sports bird poo day!
I don’t consider myself a really lucky person, never have been.
I don’t play the lottery because I know I won’t win and the only supposedly lucky thing that ever seems to happen to me is that birds poo on me… alot!. I don’t know what it is about me, maybe they are dissing my poor fashion sense. The last time it happened was on my sons annual school sports day. I couldn’t even go home in shame for fear of puppy dog eyed jack saying ” Awwww, You didn’t watch my race…” . So there I sat, fetching bird poo drying nicely on left shoulder wondering why exactly this is supposed to be “lucky”! (more…)
It’s Cup cake Week!
Friday, September 18th, 2009Ok… so I am a little behind in the celebrations seeing as cupcake week started on the 14th but as my mum always says, better late than never!
I will tell you how I have been celebrating, yesterday I had all my lovely pals over for home made cup cakes, I followed Anabelle Karmels recipe which is totally goof proof (just as well,ey?) and we all had a fab time! as well as the yummy cupcakes we had credit crunch cookies and half a box of Thornton chocolates. These were supposed to be for crimbo presents but I just couldn’t resist (note to self, don’t try and be organised, its just not you! buy anything remotely edible on Christmas eve… you have no will power!).
I got a Meme Award! Yay…
Wednesday, September 16th, 2009I have a Meme award, how brilliant! thank you to the very funny and talented Andrea http://www.andreadaly.com/ for passing it on to me. As part of the award I have to tell you 7 things about myself and recomend 7 other blogs, well that bits easy as I read them all day, have given up on books ….reading blogs is adictive and usually good for bitesize inbetween milly playing gaps!
It’s a competition captain but not as we know it..
Monday, September 14th, 2009Just dropping by to pass on some icklebabe news!
A while ago the lovely Karin at www.cafebebe.co.uk asked if I’d like to sponsor one of their competitions. I love the concept of cafebebe, its a place ( like a real cafe) where mums can go for advice, to listen, to learn and to laugh, and as a new mum (abiet for the 3rd time!) myself I was very glad to join in!
Last Day’s Of Summer…
Sunday, September 13th, 2009I think the last warm days of summer are pretty special. It always feels like we are cheating the seasons a bit when the sun is still shinning so brightly in the middle of september.
So in the spirit of the season, with the sun bright so close to autumn me, big J and baby Milly headed off for a day at the beach.
The closest nicest beach to us is wells-next-the-sea in Norfolk, its a bit of a treck at two hours but so worth it!
People we lost…
Thursday, September 10th, 2009I have ummed and arrhed about adding this entry, its not like my usual ramblings but I think it might help me a little bit, so if you don’t mind, here goes.
It started last week when I was tucking Jack into bed, he said out of the blue that he felt sorry for milly because she would never get to know grandad.
My dad died in November last year, very suddenly of a heart attack. He was a very young 62 and I honestly felt he was going to live forever (or at least until I was really really old! ) But at 6.40 on nov 13th I got a phone call that he was gone and that was that, final.
Modelling For Icklebabe…
Friday, September 4th, 2009Had the greatest time modelling my new grown-up retro aprons with “big” daughter, Ellie today.
For a teenager she was a great sport, modelling my wares whilst balancing a mixing bowl on her head was a particually high point!
It’s so lovely to have her helping out, she has always been my greatest fan. Sometimes its hard to have a mum who dosen’t have a “real job” I am often working weekends and evenings and the house is always upside down with paint and fabrics all over the place, but she has always loved everything I do. She did have a moment when she was about 8 when she asked me why I couldn’t just work in sainsbury’s like her best friends mum but apart from that she’s been great. She shows off my website in IT class and is always asking me when I’m going to make tee’s in her size!
I Heart Butternut Squash…
Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009Its an ugly thing to admit but I have to own up to a bad case of discrimination… against the humble butternut squash!
Many a time I have ignored it during a trip down the supermarket isles, always choosing something less bulbus and more attractive. But behind the yucky biege skin and ugly bell shape lies a yummy sweet sunshine treat I am very glad I found.
